Alyson's Houston Baby Shower

I think that owning a Mac is a little like driving in Waco. There are at least 3 different ways to get anywhere in Waco. And they all take about the same amount of time. But I cannot tell you how many times I come to an intersection and get in a serious quandary with myself on which way to go. Then let's take the Mac. Oh, how it still makes me feel so stupid almost daily. There are probably 4 ways to get a photo that I edited from Adobe Bridge/Photoshop. It's very easy if I had edited that particular album a few days ago. But take my posts as of late and I am at least 3 weeks behind. So how to find the folder can take me awhile. I've been trying to find these edited photos for the last 4 times I have tried to do a post. It's really easy, but I forget every time. Enough rambling, onto the post....

Alyson Haas is a longtime buddy from high school that also relocated to Houston. It's been fun to have a fellow Midway Panther in the midst of big city life. She's having a boy that's due in May. no name yet (is this starting to be a trend?), so I can't wait to see who this sweet little boy is going to be. I keep saying that Shannon is a cross-gender name! :-)

So I found this adorable wording at Nina's blog for the invite. Had a hard time knowing what to write on my Roundtop chalkboard signs (with no name and all). I am so thankful to Caryn for letting me use her stash of decor. It always helps the shower budget when you don't have to buy lots of extras.

Like these borrowed bottles full of candy - fits our blue and brown theme perfectly.

So this flower arrangement is pretty funny. I decided not to have a flower arrangement. Until the day of the shower. I was out walking Roxy early in the morning when I saw a vacant lot full of azaleas. So I plucked a couple stems, put some plastic baby pacifiers int eh bottom of a vase, and called it a day. Nothing like decorating on a budget.

We gave these cookies as favors. Love Memorial Bakery cookies!

We last minute threw together some mimosas with a raspberry garnish. They were delish!

Blueberry Izzies - a must for a blue and brown shower.

On of the food choices was a section to make your own yogurt parfaits. Now this shower was exactly a month ago, and I have been eating yogurt parfaits pretty much every morning since then. It was such a great idea, a good filler, and a crowd pleaser.

Crave cupcakes were the centerpiece of the table.

The whole table

I call this my shower wreath. The way my front door faces the outside really makes my wreaths look war-beaten by the elements. So this wreath only comes out for showers. Gotta have my back-ups.

Can you tell I was really trying to push the baby pacifiers? They were everywhere.

Midway gang - Kacey, Alyson, and myself

Alyson with the hostesses - Kelly & myself

The whole gang at the shower. Thanks to my in-laws for the tripod that enabled me to get this photo.

Alyson looks so excited to open all her gifts.

After all the hoop-la, my men returned home. Justin, in his anal-loving tendencies, decided to put all the chairs in one row. Makes his OCD momma so proud! Then he proceeded to crawl all over them.

Fun times had by all.
