Big boy bed update

After I finish my Doha Diaries, I plan on catching up on a lot of photos that I haven't posted yet from March and April. Since Justin hasn't gotten a lot of face time on the blog in the last few weeks, I thought I would give a few updates. We started swim lessons two weeks ago, Justin still doesn't like to be dunked, but he does like to float on his back and grab for toys deep under the water. We're taking semi-private lessons at the Dad's Club with Chance, and we have the same instructor from last year. Miss Georgia is great with the kids. And thanks to the Houston flood from last Tuesday, last week's lessons were cancelled (along with a lot of other venues in Houston). With Ike, the economy, and then last week's flooding, you would think that Houston would get a break every now and then.

One day last week Justin got into the tattoos leftover from the Easter Egg Hunt from the neighborhood (one of the many things I have yet to blog about). He put 7 tattoos all over his body, all of which his father failed to scrub well in the bath that night, so therefore, all went with him to school the next day. This photo is straight out of the camera - are you Wild for Jesus?

And last but not least, the big boy bed update. Justin took two naps last week in the big boy bed but didn't want to sleep in there at night. Then he refused the nap times for the rest of the week. Then Derek playfully got him in the bed for his nap on Saturday. I put him to bed Saturday night, and as I was reading to him in the bed, I was getting choked up thinking about him no longer being in the crib. If he's our only baby, then this stage if over for good. He was being coy as we turned out the lights that he wanted in the crib. I swallowed the lump in my throat, told him he needed to stay in his big boy bed, and tearfully walked out the door. Such a little boy in such a big bed. Who knew that the very thing I couldn't wait for would seem so monumental. He slept great last night, and also took a nap and went to bed in the big bed tonight as well. Might be time to take the ole crib out of there and start rearranging the new room. Our entire bedtime routine is off because we took the glider out of the room (hey, we have a crib and a bed in there right now), which meant we had to change where we read books and no more rocking while singing a few songs. We're back on track though. Kind of sad!

Thanks to Grace and Luke for coming over Thursday to see the "cool new bed". He enjoyed showing it off to his buddies.

It is sad! Very sad. I'm sad when I see hair on Brooks' legs! ha! Seriously! They aren't babies any more and every step should be remembered! But there is always something to look forward to. Love the Doha Diary!

I remember that feeling! It is a bitter sweet thing. Just wait until you are antisipating that first day of kindergarten! That one still gets me teary!
