Soccer '12

The fall brought both boys and soccer teams.  Our first time to have double the fun now that we had two eager participants.  We signed the boys up at the Y, combined with some of our other friends, and had ourselves a fun time.

This was Levi's first team sport.  He eventually grew tired of the practice AND game.  Hard to say which he loved more.  He liked the social aspect, but man, he was hot.  Always wanting water breaks, and mommy pacing him on the time spent off the field.

But he was off to a great start at the beginning.

We had a great group of coaches, who were very patient with the limited attention spans of 4/5 year olds.

Justin moved up to the 1st/2nd grade league, with a lot of his baseball team from the spring.  He couldn't get enough of it.

His coach was actually a certified soccer coach.  The drills, the structure of his practices, all of it...Justin loved every minute of it.  And thrived in that environment.  Every practice his footwork would increase greatly thanks to the knowledge of his coach.
At Justin's practice, fellow teammate Troy & Levi were BFFs.
Lexi would do various activities to keep her busy.  While all anyone wanted to do was snack and play mommy's phone, both of which were not encouraged, we had to use our imagination instead.
We did lots of gymnastics with the older sisters at the practice.
Levi was a good goalie at his games.
Justin would pace up and down the field at the games, watching Levi's team.  Such the fan at any sport.
Levi during a break.  I became a pseudo assistant coach and would help determine whose turn it was to go back out on the field, and maintain those on the sidelines to cheer for their team and not wander off.

Learning how to do a throw in

When Levi was into the games, he was a delight to watch.  His heart just always wanted in it.

Grandpa & Grandma came for a weekend of soccer games.
Justin would carry his schedule around the house, memorizing the opponents.  One week we missed due to Baylor Homecoming.  Justin pointed out that last year we played the Seattle team the week we had to miss, just like this year.  I blinked a few times before saying anything.  Intense with that schedule!

Justin would run after that ball like a madman.  Such a contrast to Levi's games.  The soccer player in me loved watching the games.

Levi was just dreaming about this trophy.  So he could have one like Justin.

Go Salt Lake Lions!

Showing Coach Tom the ball signed by the players

Yea for a trophy!  Yay for being done!  Wink wink.  Still learning where our passions will lie.  One season at a time.

Due to two rainouts, our season got extended to the weekend before Thanksgiving, our adoption party date.  We rushed t the games then rushed home to celebrate.
Go Houston Dynamos!

Papa & Birdie came to watch some games as well.  Always faithful grandparents (all four of them) to match the team colors.  Justin notices these things as well.

Lexi was loving the dribbling, so maybe she will attempt soccer in the next year.  Depends on how crazy out family choose to be!
