Lufkin

Part 1 of several posts from our "hurrication" experience for two weeks away from home. We got to see my grandparents, which translates into Justin's great-grandparents in Lufkin. Justin slept like a champ while he was there and Mamaw, as always, took real good care of us. It was great for them to see Justin in action - sending photos over Snapfish just isn't enough to know how a child acts. It's such a privilege and a blessing to have great-grandparents, so I'm thankful that we had the time to go visit them!

Here's a photo of Justin, Papaw, & Mamaw. Justin had just woken up from a 4 hour nap, so he still has sleep in his eyes.
All three of us helped Mamaw rake the leaves in her yard. Lufkin had considerable damage from the hurricane, so the leaves just kept falling from the trees. Justin was, of course, very helpful and excited to be doing a project.
Mamaw & Papaw aren't huge dog people. Roxy had to realize that yes she was a dog and not a person on this visit. She had been taking a nap in the living area (on the tile, momma's orders) attached to my aunt Karen's part of the house. Somehow she had snuck onto Karen's leather chair. She blends in so nicely I did not even realize she was there for quite some time. I had made her hang out in the backyard for awhile, so she just thought she would make herself right at home.
Mamaw helping Justin turn the handle to make this old choo-choo train make noise. Notice the pile of debris in the background - every yard had this (nothing compared to Houston), which was still so crazy to think of all the damage so far from the coast.
I'm so glad we got to hang out with my dad's parents over the weekend! I never take it for granted that they are still a huge part of our lives. I'm thankful they have all 9 great-grandkids!
