Doha Diaries: Part 7

The final post of the Doha saga. Yes, it's only taken me a month to post all of these (or more like I left a month ago to go to Doha, which is crazy that so much time has past). I have been working on my posts that I am behind on. I just uploaded all the photos to the 17 drafts in my blogger, so beware, lots of posts coming your way (all the back in March - ahhhh!). Your Google Reader won't know what to do when it starts getting lots of Shannonogans coming its way.

I took a photo of a random license plate to show you how many different symbols are on it. Apparently, if there are only 3 numbers then it is royalty driving around. We actually saw a few of those cars around town.

So the last day in Doha we were going to chill by the pool and get us a blizzard at Dairy Queen. How nice of them to have a separate sign for each of the different languages. Makes me laugh.

I decided to try a blizzard Ashley-style. She gets chocolate syrup added to hers. Let's just say that after 10 bites I was chocolated-out. A bit much for me.

Then we went to the Doha grocery store- there was also a department store with perfumes and sports cars inside. Nice combo, Doha. Why didn't the US think of such a thing? In the grocery, you could buy pancakes with syrup to-go. Yum - day old pancakes just waiting to melt in your mouth.

I took this while we were driving, so sorry for a little blur. The signs on all the stores had both English and Arabic writing on them. Made my head hurt looking at all the different languages.

I just yell out something in Farse in my head when I see this. So Middle East, don't you think?

We drove by a camel souqs (market). It was actually kind of sad. All these camels, which are a delight to me since I never see them, all caged and roped together like cattle. But I guess this is that country's cattle.

This little guy is just begging me to adopt him for a pet. And there were some camel dishes on the menus at restaurants. Gross.

We hung out at Wendi's complex's pool. I so wish my neighborhood had one that we could just walk to. Another overcast day, but that didn't stop these boys from swimming in the chilly water.

And that night we finished off grilling burgers and veggies. We were jamming to music in the kitchen and the boys started wiggling under my legs. Nice touch, me holding a toy machine gun and all, don't you think? Had to play the part of a Doha native.

Wendi - I miss you already! A week is just not enough to spend with one of the biggest blessings in my life. Can't wait to see you this summer - I'll be begging for every minute I can get. And for those planning a trip this summer, why not consider Doha?
